The Gramin dak Sevak is worked in rural areas. There are three posts in GDS i.e. Branch Post Master(BPM), Assistant Branch Post Master(ABPM), and Dak Sevak(GDS). The work of all these posts is different.
Branch Post Master(BPM) Job Profile :
Branch Post Master is the main key person of the branch post office. All the responsibility of the branch post office is on the shoulder of the Branch Post Master.
Its Job Profile includes managing all the affairs of Branch Post Office, Uninterrupted counter operation during working hours using device supplied by the department of post, India Post Payment Banks, Maintenance of records, overall management of postal services, Online transaction using a device provided by Department of Post, Marketing of Postal Services, Doing postal business in the village and gram panchayats in area.
He also has the responsibility to the smooth and timely operation of the Post office including Mail Delivery. BPM is assisted by the Assistant branch postmaster and he/she is also doing the work of ABPM when ordered by a higher authority. He will also be required to do marketing, organizing melas, and any other word organized by supervising authorities. In some post offices, BPM is also doing the work of BPM/ABPM.
Note : Work performed by India Post Payment Bank(IPPB) will not be included in Time Related Continuity Allowance(TRCA), since the same is being done on an incentive basis.
Assistant Branch Post Master(ABPM) Job Profile :
Job profile of assistant branch post master includes sale of stamps and stationery, delivery of mails/payments/deposits at doorsteps, IPPB transactions, Marketing of Postal services, organizing melas and any other word organized by supervising authorities and assisting branch post master. ABPMs will also be required to do combined duty of BPMs as and when ordered.
Note : Work performed by India Post Payment Bank(IPPB) will not be included in Time Related Continuity Allowance(TRCA), since the same is being done on an incentive basis.
Dak Sevak Job Profile :
Job profile of Dak sevaks includes sale of stamps and stationery, Delivery of mails and any other work assigned by postmaster or sub postmaster. It also includes IPPB work in departmental post offices and Railway Mails Services(RMS). He has to assist post master, do marketing and other work assigned by supervising authorities. He also has to handle work related to RMS like opening and closing of bags, transport of bags from one place to another manually and any other works alloted by RMS authorities.
Note : Work performed by India Post Payment Bank(IPPB) will not be included in Time Related Continuity Allowance(TRCA), since the same is being done on an incentive basis.
Salary of BPM, ABPM and Dak Sevaks :
The salary of BPM, ABPM and Dak Sevaks is in the form of Time Related Continuity Allowances(TRCA).
For BPM, Minimum TRCA for 4 hours Level 1 is 12,000 Rs. and for 5 hour Level 2 is 14,000 Rs.
For ABPM/Dak Sevaks, Minimum TRCA for 4 hours Level 1 is 10,000 Rs. and for 5 hour Level 2 is 12,000 Rs.
Age Limit :
The minimum and maximum age for the purpose for engagement to GDS shall be 18 to 40 years respectively. Reserved categories get permissible relaxation in upper age limit according to government rules.
Educational Qualification :
1) Secondary school certificate of 10th standard with passing marks in Math, Local Language and English.
2)The candidate should have studied local language at least upto 10th Standard. The local language for respective states is given in the detailed advertisement.
3)Basic computer training course certificate of at least 60 days duration from any computer training institute run by Central Government/State Government/Universities/Board/Private Institutions Organizations.
Residence :
The candidate who applying for the post of branch post master must provide accomodation for Branch Post Office after selection but before engagement. There are certain conditions related to residence, you can check all those requirement in detailed advertisement of respective states.
Knowledge of Cycling:
The knowlege is cycling is required condition for GDS, but you have the knowlege of scooter or bike then it is ok, it is consider as a knowledge of cycling.
The candidate applying for the post of GDS should have other income sources to supplement his income.
Security Amount:
The security amount for BPM and other GDS Post after engagement is Rs. 1,00,000 Rs.
Selection Process :
Selection will be made as per the automatic generated merit list as per the rules based on the candidates online submitted applications.
A candidate can apply for a maximum of twenty posts as per cycle of online engagement.
