Answer : The long form of GDS is Gramin Dak Sevak. The GDS are worked in rural areas.

Answer: There are two posts are available in GDS, First is GDS BPM(Branch Post Master) and the Second is ABPM(Assistant Branch Post Master).
Q. What is the work of BPM in the Post Office?
Answer: The work of BPM is to make transactions in the RICT device of Saving bank, Recurring Deposit, Term Deposit, eMO, and also open all types of accounts in a post office. He also generates daily account statements through the RICT device and submits them to Sub Office.
Q. What is the work of ABPM in the Post Office?
Answer: The work of ABPM in the post office is to deliver letters at the doorsteps of people in his area. He also assists the BPM in Post Office. He also handles letter bags.
Q. How many people work under BPM?
Answer: BPM is the head of the branch post office. ABPM is worked under BPM means only one person is worked under BPM.
Q. BPM posts are Contract Basis or Permanent Job under Central Government?
Answer: Basically it is an Extra departmental job means it is a permanent job under the central government but it does not come under a central government civilian employee job means you are not getting benefits from central government employees.
Q . If I selected for ABPM this year, can I apply for BPM next year or cycle?
Answer: Yes you can apply next year or cycle.
Q. I am working as a BPM for the last 1 year but it is so far from my home, Can I apply for GDS next year or Cycle?
Answer: Yes you can apply next year or cycle.
Q. What are the Eligibility Criteria or Requirement for Gramin Dak Sevak?
Answer: Candidates should pass 10th class with a Passing mark in Math, English and he should know the local language of the state. He did at least 60 days computer certificate course from Government or Private Institute. He should know Bicycle Riding.
Q. How many Percentages are required for GDS Job?
Answer: There are no such criteria for percentage officially, anyone who passes 10th class can apply but according to merit percentage between 90 % to 100% are generally selected. In some cases, the candidate who scores 75% is also be selected means it completely depends on how many students are applied for a particular place.
Q. What are the selection criteria or Merit in GDS?
Answer: Selection will be made as per the automatically generated merit list as per the rules based on the candidate's online submitted applications.
Q. After getting the message of GDS selection when the Intimation letter arrives?
Answer: After getting a message of GDS Selection, you get an intimation letter with 2 Months. In some cases, it may take some time because it completely depends on your recruitment authority.
Q. Whether GDS are eligible for age relaxation under central government civilian employees Rules?
Answer: No.
Q. Where will be the document verification (DV) of postal GDS Occurs?
Answer: The document verification office address is given on your intimation letter along with the date. Generally, document verification occurs in Head Post Office.
Q. Which certificates are required for GDS Document Verification?
Answer: You can take only upload documents while registration along with your aadhar card and PAN Card.
Q. What happens after GDS Document Verification?
Answer: After document verification, you uploaded documents are submitted by the department of post and they give you an attestation form for filling and you have to submit it to the department of the post after completing this form. After submitting this form your training is started and after completion of training, you get a joining letter.
Q. Is there is any target in GDS BPM or ABPM Post?
Answer: Year every month upper authorities give some targets for completion. For example, AEPS(Aadhar Enabled Payment System) transactions, opening SB, RD and Term Deposit accounts, etc...
Q. Currently I am doing a Graduation and I am selected for GDS, so can I complete my Graduation along with GDS Job?
Answer: No.
Q. Can I promote directly in GDS?
Answer: No, you can not directly be promoted. For promotion, you have to pass Departmental Exam and then you will be promoted to the higher post.
Q. What is the transfer rule for GDS?
Answer: You can get a transfer after 2 years in the case of Male candidates. Female candidates get transferred after 1 Year. Transfer can take place on mutual understanding.
Q. Whether it is necessary to have other sources of income before engaging as GDS?
Answer: If you other income sources then it's good because GDS posts have very low salary and it is not necessary to have other sources of income before engaging as GDS.
