Third Round Table Conference 1932

In this article, we discuss the third round table conference in 1932.

The Third Round Table Conference started on 17 November 1932 and ended on 24 December 1932.

Only 46 delegates came to the third round conference which was much less than the first and second round table conference. 90 delegates came to the first round table conference and 155 delegates came to the second round table conference.

After the Second Round Table Conference, Gandhiji thought of coming to India and starting the Civil Disobedience Movement again.

But then Viceroy Lord Wellington imprisoned all the big leaders including Gandhiji. Therefore Congress was not in the 3rd Round Table Conference and Jinnah also did not attend the 3rd Round Table Conference.

Britain's Labor Party also refused to attend the 3rd Round Table Conference.

The 3rd Round Table Conference was attended by the Diwan and Princess of the Indian Princely States such as the Diwan of Udaipur, Diwan of Hyderabad, Diwan of Jaipur, Diwan of Mysore, Diwan of Jodhpur, Diwan of Alwar, Diwan of J&K, and Diwan of Bhopal.

Different sections of society and Indian political parties also came here like Dr. Ambedkar represents Depressed classes, Aga Khan III and Muhammad Iqbal represents Muslim League, Begum Jahanasa Shahnawaz represents Indian women's, Tej Bahadur Sapru represents Indian Liberal Party and Henry Gidney represents the Anglo Indians.

After the 2nd Round Table Conference, the British government sent some fact-finding committees to India.

Some of the main committees were the Lothian Committee, Percy Committee, and Davidson Committee.

The Indian Franchise Committee is called the Lothian Committee which recommended the Communal Award.

In the 3rd round table conference, all the members discussed the recommendations of these three committees.

The Federal Legislative Structure of India was also discussed in the 3rd Round Table Conference.

Some pamphlets were circulated by the Muslim League in the 3rd Round Table Conference. The heading of the pamphlets is - Now or Never; Are we live or Perish Forever.

This pamphlet was written by a college student, Chaudhary Rahmat Ali, and here Pakistan was mentioned for the first time. This Pamphlet is also known as Pakistan Declaration.

This article is finally published in 1933 after the third round table conference.

After this, the British government published a whitepaper in March 1933 on the basis of the recommendation of the First, Second and Third Round Table Conference.

Debates and discussions took place in the British Parliament on this whitepaper and finally in 1935 the Government of India Act 1935 was brought.
